Olympus 360-degree Camera and Lens

Written by admin on Monday, June 30th, 2008 in gadgets.

Olympus 360-degree Camera and Lens
Olympus has just released a 360-degree camera and lens, hoping that those in the surveillance business will see the importance of such a camera, letting one take a photo of everything around it. I suppose the final image will be drastically different from playing Quake in “cg_fov 360″, since it is nigh impossible to see anything at that setting. This new camera and lens combo will shoot in all directions using just a single lens, but it is shackled by the fact that it cannot shoot 360 degrees vertically like Google’s camera can. There is no word on a shipping date, but thieves ought to brush up on their act if they want to work around this all-encompassing digital eye. I don’t know just how essential it is for you to own a cell phone that is dust-, water- and shock-proof, but if phone calls no matter the condition around you are a matter of life and death, then the T-Pad rugged handset would be a prime candidate. Having met US military standards, the T-Pad is also able to withstand vibrations and function just fine even in sub-zero temperatures while you shiver away. Features include :-

  • 4″ touch screen display
  • Intel 400MHz processor
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Wi-Fi support

Now, to find me $2,600 so that I can pick up one of these puppies…

Lenovo gets official with IdeaCentre K210 desktop

Written by admin on Monday, June 30th, 2008 in gadgets.

We heard that Lenovo was shuffling its lineup a bit earlier this month, and sure enough, that IdeaCentre brand is getting its 15 minutes today courtesy of a fresh press release. Hailed as the outfit’s “global entry into the consumer desktop market outside of China,” the IdeaCentre K210 comes with a variety of hardware choices including Intel’s Core 2 Quad processors, up to 3GB of DDR2 RAM, a GMA X3100 integrated graphics set (or a 512MB ATI Radeon 2600 XT), optional Blu-ray drive, gigabit Ethernet, a 16-in-1 multicard reader and an anti-microbial keyboard that comically stands out more than it was likely intended to. Nevertheless, the tower also includes VeriFace facial recognition technology that enables users to log in by simply gazing into the webcam; if it performs anywhere nearly as poorly as it did on our U110 review unit, however, we’d recommend switching the feature off and logging in as usual. Eee PC Update- 904/905 to replace 901? Debian to replace Xandros?

Written by admin on Monday, June 30th, 2008 in gadgets.

The next chapter in the never-ending saga that has become the Eee PC, just might be the replacement of the Eee PC 901 with the so-called 904 and 905 models. According to the DigiTimes the 8.9-inch, Atom-power 901 will be replaced with 904 and 905, which will have the same 8.9-inch display, but use the chassis from the 1000, the 10-inch version. This would mean users get the larger keyboard found on the 1000 and 1000h but hopefully at a price closer to that of the 901. BlogEee has pictures in case you are curious.

While many users will be put off by the incremental growth of the Eee PC from the original 701 to the 10-inch product that we see with the 1000, this is certainly one of the ways Asus is trying to compete with more affordable offerings, like the MSI Wind (which comes in a 10-inch model) and the Acer Aspire One.

BlackBerry iTunes Synchronization Software

Written by admin on Monday, June 30th, 2008 in gadgets.

blackberry owners will be more than pleased to know that their smartphones will be getting RIM-endorsed iTunes synchronization software, but this will be available only for a short while. Nobody really knows why the software was suddenly taken offline - perhaps it was born too prematurely, and not meant for public consumption just yet? Other people think this is just a teaser to create a higher level of awareness in order to make it a hit when it is finally available, while the more negative ones think that this has way too many bugs for its own good.

Take KITT for a drive with the Knight Rider GPS

Written by admin on Monday, June 30th, 2008 in gadgets.

If you are a child of the eighties, you are probably all too familiar with Michael Knight and his talking car, KITT - the super computer built into an ‘83 model Trans AM. And if you were like most teens at the time, you probably wanted to buy your very own talking Trans Am just like it with ”Turbo Boost” button and all.

Well - for a lot of us that dream never came to be realized. But for those fans of Knigth Rider, Mio has developed a GPS to help you relive that dream of owning KITT, no matter what vehicle you drive.

Like most GPS systems, the Knight Rider GPS features a viewscreen/touch pad and helps you find you way around driving your car with audible voice cues.
