The Gadget Lab Summer BBQ Guide
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s barbeque season, time to brave all forms of salmonella, e.coli and charcoal induced cancers and burn hunks of flesh over the coals (just be sure to leave them raw, bloody and cold on the inside). Sure, you can bury the meat in a pit in the ground, or just throw together a cooling rack and a turkey tin, but we know that you, Gadget Lab reader, expects a little more from your cooking kit. You want bells and whistles. Below you can read our guide to the seasons best (and worst) broiling bric-a-brac. Evasolo There are a few kinds of barbeque. The ones that burn gas and the ones that burn charcoal. (Read the full post about ‘The Gadget Lab Summer BBQ Guide’…)

Introducing the Lenovo IdeaPad U110
After an early announcement and months of waiting, Lenovo’s ultraportable IdeaPad U110 has finally arrived. Not only can consumers order one today, but we actually have one in-house. I’ve only been able to test it out for a few hours now, but here are a few photos to get you excited for the upcoming review. Just to get the basics listed–the system starts at $1899 and comes in both red and black. It runs a Core 2 Duo L7500 processor and has an 11.1-inch display. It has no internal optical drive, but ours came bundled with a USB one–it’s not red, but it is covered in Lenovo’s soft-touch material (found on the X300’s palm rest). iHome Zune ZN9 Clock Radio

iHome Zune ZN9 Clock Radio
iHome’s pretty big when it comes to docks for both the ipod and Zune (more of the former, actually), and here’s the ZN9 Clock Radio being the latest in a long line of peripherals. The ZN9 for the Zune comes with a gradual wake or sleep feature that nudges you out of bed or puts you to sleep gently using your favorite tunes, while there is also the option to set the alarm for both weekends and weekdays. As for the ZN10 Table Radio (not pictured), this comes in a “retro-classic” wooden speaker cabinet with a line-in just in case you want to connect non-Zune devices. Checking out the audio/video player of your dreams? Try DAPreview.net
In a comment on a previous post about shopping for MP3 players, Jason wanted me to try DAPreview.net. We lovelovelove reader comments and believe in responding to them. So I did. Lots o’ stuff going on at DAPreview.net besides reviews, including news, forums, articles and miscellaneous blog posts. I did not, oddly, find a home-grown review of the Archos 605, the player I yearn for. But among the several posts were summaries of reviews, including the CNET semi-rapture that had introduced me to the 605. Also some pre-launch speculations and later commentaries, including one on how to hack the 605 - if you’re into that sort of thing. Not me, sister. Autoelex Luxury Pet House

Autoelex Luxury Pet House
Koreans and Japanese certainly know how to spoil their pets, as the Korean-based Autoelex will be parading its Luxury Pet House at at New York’s Koreannovation show on May 14th and 15th, 2008. This is no ordinary pet home as it features PC-managed controls, temperature and humidity limits, infrared radiation and carbon heating walls to keep your pet warm, toasty and safe within its confines. Heck, it even comes with antibiotic air (to kill off whatever germs and unwanted lifeforms I guess), solenoid valve “medical treatment,” and carbon filter-based deodorizing. Dogs and cats from a few thousand years ago survived just fine without all this pampering - hopefully the pet who stays in the Luxury Pet House won’t turn out to be a sissy a few years down the road. Canadian bank hands out free Eee PCs
by Joshua Topolsky, posted May 1st 2008 at 11:49AM It used to be if you signed up for a new checking account, a bank might throw off a toaster, alarm clock, or in extreme modern cases, a 1GB ipod shuffle. Well times, they are a’changing, and boy do we wish we lived in Canada right now. Up north, RBC Royal Bank is offering a free ASUS Eee PC when you switch to their checking account service. That’s right, you get an actual computer after completing the move (and dealing with a lot of red tape). (Read the full post about ‘Canadian bank hands out free Eee PCs’…)

TV Comes to Your AT&T Phone

TV Comes to Your AT&T Phone
Perhaps you’ve had the thought: If I could only watch "30 Rock" on my phone, my life would be complete. Perhaps you haven’t. Either way, there’s no stopping AT&T from making it happen, come hell, high water, or an anemic spring TV lineup that seems to have been pulled out of the recycling bins during the writer’s strike. AT&T’s service will be available starting Sunday in 58 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle (but not San Francisco). To use the service, you’ll need one of the carrier’s spiffy new handsets: Either the LG Vu ($300 after rebate, with a 2-year contract) or the Samsung Access ($200 after rebate, with 2-year contract). Sidekick 3 getting an OTA

Sidekick 3 getting an OTA
Sounds like the Sidekick 3 is getting a Over The Air (OTA) update to upgrade the radio firmware. Doesn’t look like anything significant or major improvements, but all you Sidekick 3 owners may see it popping up on your device soon. I assume it’s rolling out to the pioneer group first, which is basically a small (random) subset of the Sidekick 3 users. As long as that rolls out without significant problems it will start being sent out to everyone. (Read the full post about ‘Sidekick 3 getting an OTA’…)
