Nokia’s having a bit of trouble keeping its E71 QWERTY business phone under wraps, with that initial sighting in January, and now another couple in-the-wild shots to keep us interested. If anything this serves confirm those previous shots, but it’s nice to see some autofocus on this 3.2 megapixel puppy. (Read the full post about ‘Nokia E71 sneaks into the wild once again’…)

JayBird JB-200 headphones let you experience cheap A2DP pleasure
Don’t think USB charger connectors are overrated? Maker of Bluetooth headsets JayBird does. That’s why it has implemented a new kind of charger for its new JayBird JB-200 Bluetooth headphones. The patent pending JayBird charging design consists of a “small flat metal charging material on the inside surface of the right ear piece, which when sliding the headset into the custom slot on the charging dock connects the headset to the power supply” for charging. And other than this novel new feature, this funky looking pair of Bluetooth headphones will do you good for 5.5 hours with music and 6.5 hours during calls. Acer to come up with Smartphone
Acer isn’t content with just making PCs and notebooks now I guess, as they have expanded their focus to include smartphones as well. The Taiwanese company has slated the end of this year at best or early next year at worst to release its first Windows Mobile smartphone, hoping to make smartphones contribute up to 10% of the company revenue. After purchasing E-Ten in March, Acer will stop producing PDAs and focus just one smartphones entirely, taking a different marketing strategy as well as it sells Acer smartphones via wireless carriers instead of at retail stores. How much success do you think Acer’s foray will achieve? (Read the full post about ‘Acer to come up with Smartphone’…)

Water Regenerator from Segway Inventor

Water Regenerator from Segway Inventor
Dean Kamen is the inventor of the Segway and he has been working on something that is arguably much more useful: a water regenerator powered by cow dung. The dung generates energy and uses it to start a vapor condensation distillation process to generate up to 1000 liters of clean (distilled) water per day, per machine from any “wet” source (sewage, sea water, mud…). Dean’s point is that there’s a looming water shortage and according to him, 50% of human diseases could be averted by having clean water for all. I don’t know if his numbers are right or not, but it’s hard to argue that there’s no need for clean water. (Read the full post about ‘Water Regenerator from Segway Inventor’…)

Dedupe your Windows Mobile contacts for free with DupeDeDupe

Written by admin on Thursday, April 24th, 2008 in gadgets.

Challenge a developer and get a new app, at least that’s how DupeDeDupe was born. A question came up in the Mobius group about the best software to use for de-duping your contacts in Windows Mobile. Instead of answering the question, Paul from Modaco whipped up his own application that does a “down and dirty” job of comparing your contacts based on the following fields: File As, Email, and Home / Work / mobile phone fields. If they all match, it’s a dupe. You can then decide if you want to remove the dupes.

I’ve enjoyed my fair share of duplicates in the past since I switch between different devices.

Retro Recursion: NES Mario Runs On NES Mario Cart

Retro Recursion: NES Mario Runs On NES Mario Cart
Once you have yourself a NES On a Chip (NOAC), any classic Nintendo mod is as much a feat of imagination as it is of engineering. And that is exactly why we love French hacker Retrotaku’s NES-in-a-NES-Cart. He took the notoriously dodgy NOAC and slotted it into an original Mario Bros game cartridge. The tight squeeze called for some dremel work, and the result is a truly fitting home for the 8-bit wonder machine. The only thing that would be better is a SNES-in-a-cart running Super Mario Kart. If you need any confirmation as to the poor quality of those grey market chips, check the picture below to see how it handles the colors for Super Mario Bros. 5. Hold on. When did they make No.5? Nintendo’s DS-accessible Fan Network now free at Safeco Field

Nintendo’s DS-accessible Fan Network now free at Safeco Field
by Darren Murph, posted Apr 23rd 2008 at 7:57AM Nearly a year after the innovative (albeit not-entirely-practical) Nintendo Fan Network went live at Safeco Field in Seattle, the powers that be have decided to nix those pesky access fees and give every DS-toting guest access gratis. That’s right, folks who show up to catch a Mariners game can now check out other MLB scores, dig deep within player stats, order up grossly overpriced grub and even watch a terribly pixelated version of the game they’re currently at without handing over one red cent.
