Evolution of Man and TV

Evolution of Man and TV
Check out the comic above - it is a hilarious but true take of the evolution of us homo sapiens and TV - apparently the thinner a TV gets (in addition to cell phones and other hi-tech stuff such as iPods), the fatter we become due to a sedentary lifestyle. Pretty funny, no? (Read the full post about ‘Evolution of Man and TV’…)

Walk - Dont Walk New York Chair

The Walk - Dont Walk chair is built from authentic New York City signs. What is ultra cool is that the signs still work via a remote control. The remote control is included which allows you to switch on and off the signs when needed. Maybe they should read, Sit - Dont Sit. Power is provided by a standard 115V wall outlet. Bulbs are standard too making them easy to replace when needed. The legs of the seat are made from steel street sign brackets and are galvanized and fitted with self levelling feet. The Walk - Dont Walk chairs are each built by hand and still contain all the scuffs and stains of living in New York for a number of years. Long Awaited Red Consumer Camcorder reveiled …

A little over a year ago, the video world was taken by storm by RED ONE, a revolutionary professional grade camcorder that took better than film quality video for about a third the price of it’s Panavision and Arri cousins. It was rumored to have an 11.4 MP chip with no noise issues or artifacting, and could shoot up to 60fps. Some thought it was vaporware until director Peter Jackson shot “Crossing the Line,” a short film on World War I, with it with stunning results same or better quality as professional equivalents costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, but for an $18,000 pricetag. And in that short period of time, everyone wants one. (Read the full post about ‘Long Awaited Red Consumer Camcorder reveiled …’…)

Blockbuster offered to buy Circuit City. Zah?

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in gadgets.

News came out today that Blockbuster offered to buy out Circuit City at a premium over their then valuation. Beats me why they would do this. CC turned them down (also another head-scratcher), b/c they said they were unsure about the financing.

Why isn’t Blockbuster going after Netflix. Seems that their biggest problem.

Say Hellui to NEC’s Lui family of media streamers
by Thomas Ricker, posted Apr 15th 2008 at 3:54AM See those people? As much as NEC would like to think so, that’s not you. If it were you’d be ass-deep in nag about your inattentive dismissal of “quality time” while suffering dire warnings about barefoot-borne diseases. Or maybe that’s just us. Regardless, NEC hopes that the launch of its 4-component Lui (Life with Ubiquitous Integration) system — ¥379,890/$3,705 Blu-ray packing PC server (Lui SX), ¥89,880/$877 10.6-inch laptop (Lui RN), ¥49,980/$487 4.1-inch handheld (Lui RP), and ¥300,000/$2,926 Desktop (Valuestar R Lui) — will somehow create harmony in your household. DIY Burglar Alarm

DIY Burglar Alarm
Unemployed Afghan electrical engineer Hanif Molavizadeh has decided to come up with a deadly DIY burglar alarm that will trigger a “song-like” warning whenever a small movement is triggered outside the window, calling Molavizadeh’s cell phone which would then be used to send a text message to the would-be thief via the alarm box. In the case that there is no turning back by the thief, the Kalashnikov rifle will then be fired remotely without fear or favor. Remember kids, breaking into people’s homes just ain’t cool and is against the law. Worst still if you have to suffer a bullet wound in the process. (Read the full post about ‘DIY Burglar Alarm’…)

VTech IS6110 Cordless Landline Phone

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in gadgets.

VTech IS6110 Cordless Landline Phone
VTech’s new IS6110 cordless landline phone was specially designed to look like a smartphone, so you might actually fool visitors to your home by leaving it on the coffee table. Features include a full QWERTY keyboard for instant messaging purposes, connectivity to a variety of IM programs such as Windows Live Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger, a click-to-talk feature for peer-to-peer voice chats and a large LCD color display. Before you can go online though, you will have to be connected to a USB port on your PC, which is pretty pointless since you can type much better on a computer keyboard in the first place. Would be cool to have WiFi connectivity built into this $99.99 phone though. (Read the full post about ‘VTech IS6110 Cordless Landline Phone’…)
