MSI expects to launch the Wind in Q2 2008
MSI first unveiled the Wind during CeBIT and its now looking like a release will be happening a little sooner than later. They are expected to launch during Q2 2008, and be priced between $470 and $1,099 depending on configuration. The notebooks are going to offer an 8.9- or 10-inch displays along with options for a traditional hard drive or an SSD drive. Overall they seem to be similar specs as some of the other ultra-portables that have been hitting the market lately. Hopefully some more firm details will come out, giving us a little better idea of what to expect when the Wind arrives. Via [DigiTimes] Keep up with the latest gadget goodness! Free Mandlebot Paper Toy

Free Mandlebot Paper Toy
I don’t have any little kids in my house, so when one comes to visit, I’m often at a loss for how to entertain my guest, as I have no toys lying about. My repertoire of Origami cranes and inflatable cubes exhausts itself in about twenty minutes. I’ve bookmarked this page of Fractalspin for the next time I find myself in this dilemma. The Mandlebot Paper Toy is a foldable robot that you print out on your own printer, then spend the next hour folding in accordance with the instructions. Fractalspin describes Mandlebot as a “stylish robot who just needs some help becoming 3D like the rest of us,” and who likes electronic music. (Read the full post about ‘Free Mandlebot Paper Toy’…)

VideoClix and Revision3 Team Up to Change Internet TV as we know it

I have seen the future of television, and it is VideoClix. If you haven’t tried the wonder that is Clickable Video yet, just go over to the VideoClix site and watch the first few minutes of an episode of HBO’s Entourage. VideoClix technology allows the user to watch a video and click on certain images for more information. For example, I clicked on one of the actors, and an information window gave me a description of his character. I clicked on the bowling shirt the actor was wearing, and I found out where I could buy it from. I clicked on the car the actor was in, and I saw the make and model. I clicked on the scenery the car was parked in front of, and I got information about the Grand Canyon! NapTV Splices Stool And Screen

NapTV Splices Stool And Screen
An idea as simple as the NapTV deserves a similarly simple description, which is exactly what designer Sung-kyu Nam has done. These are the only words accompanying the pictures of his concept: NapTV has a new concept about TV & Chair. You can sit on NapTV and also watch TV lying on the floor. The stool hides a screen and stereo speakers on the underside so you can lie down with your head inside. That’s right. You can watch a movie even if you are too tired to remain upright. All that is required is a single open eye. This, my friends, is a bachelor’s dream. You can literally drink yourself under the table and then fall asleep watching your choice of smut. It even comes with a remote control. (Read the full post about ‘NapTV Splices Stool And Screen’…)

NEC AtermWR1200H Wireless Router

NEC AtermWR1200H Wireless Router
NEC will roll out the AtermWR1200H wireless LAN router in Japan that comes with a built-in antenna, measuring a mere 27mm x 85mm x 110mm that makes it 60% smaller compared to its predecessor, which is pretty darn small no matter how you look at it. Unfortunately, it goes to support only 802.11b/g and nothing more than that - which is a pity since newer products these days already feature support for the draft-N standard. No idea on how much it costs though. (Read the full post about ‘NEC AtermWR1200H Wireless Router’…)

Ziszor - Portable Paper Shredder
In the “is this really necessary” department, you’ll find the Ziszor handheld paper shredder. Everything in this day and age gets miniaturized, huh? The perfect use of this gadget for those on-the-go execs who need to shred ATM receipts or perhaps those guys in the West Wing who only seem to get information via little pieces of paper which they promptly eat. Kidding. But if they had a Ziszor, no more indigestion. The Ziszor is 10″ long and weighs less than 1.5lbs, nice and light. It also has an attachable plastic bag to catch all those little shreddings. Is that a word? Runs on 4 AA batteries which is probably where a lot of the weight lies. (Read the full post about ‘Ziszor - Portable Paper Shredder’…)

Controlling Contrast On Digital Pictures

Controlling Contrast On Digital Pictures
Filed in archive Tip by jim on April 14, 2008 "Contrast" is the difference in color and light between parts of an image. If all parts of a photograph, be it color or B&W, were completely and equally illuminated, or at the same "brightness" level, nothing would stand out in the image. There would be no point of interest, no "pop" to the subject, it would appear "flat", which describes a lack of contrast in a picture. I happen to be a fan of higher contrast photography; but many people prefer less "edge" and a softer effect. The picture above, depending on how it appears on your computer monitor, is an example of how I like a picture to look, in terms of contrast.
