Limited edition gunmetal gray MGS4 PS3 coming to America, hearts flutter
by Nilay Patel, posted Apr 10th 2008 at 6:46PM It’s no secret that we’ve been drooling over all the hot limited-edition Metal Gear Solid 4 swag that Sony and Konami are dishing out in Japan, but it looks like a select few in this country will be able to score the baddest of them all: the gunmetal gray PS3 / MGS4 bundle with matching DualShock 3. Yep, it’s coming Stateside on June 12th like the rest of the MGS4 editions and the standard 80GB PS3 / MGS4 bundle, but you’d better get in line now, because we’re told it’s going to be extremely limited in availability, and we’re calling one. We can do that, right? Say yes.[Via Joystiq]ReadPermalinkEmail this79 CommentsFiled under: Gaming (Read the full post about ‘Limited edition gunmetal gray MGS4 PS3 coming to America, hearts flutter’…)

BD Touch from NetBlender

BD Touch from NetBlender

NetBlender has released a new application that enables your iphone to talk to your Blu-ray player through a WiFi connection, turning your iPhone into a fancy looking remote control. I must say, the creative use of Apple’s phenomenal handset is definitely intriguing as developers could learn to build applications that will leverage data from a Blu-ray player, constructing an iTunes-like catalog of movies right onto the iPhone while offering title recommendations. In addition, there exists the possibility of sending movies straight from disk to the iPhone. Hmm, now there’s yet another compelling reason to add to the existing 3,951 others to get an iPhone. NES Emulator on the Sidekick
A NES Emulator (by AcidAngel) is available for the SideKick, it reportedly works like a charm but it is not available yet and does not have a price. Also, remember that downloading a ROM (game) is most likely illegal, so this is going to be somewhat “underground” (well, like many arcade emulators). Air Purifying, Low-Energy Light Bulbs

Air Purifying, Low-Energy Light Bulbs
Energy-conserving light bulbs are becoming very cheap these days, and if you are a manufacturer, how do you differentiate yourself with such a commodity? By adding an ionizer that –they claim- will purify the air. First if all, people are still fighting over whether ionic air purifiers work. Even if it does, we don’t know if this light bulb does work as advertised. However, if the two previous “if” are true, then this might be a good idea… but that’s too much “if” for me, I’ll skip. Ben Heck’s PS3 Laptop

Ben Heck’s PS3 Laptop
Ben Heckendorn, the man whose life’s work is to make good gadgets better, has built a playstation 3 into a laptop. Inside is the original 60GB model, bought before Sony crippled backward compatibility with PS2 games. The mod has all the trimmings necessary to make this a true Ben Hack: USB ports, stereo speakers and amp, HDMI connection, full keyboard and a huge 17″ 720p lcd monitor. There’s even a slot loading Blu-ray drive, something not even seen in many “real” notebooks, and the whole box is thinner than a stock PS3, although at 16lbs, this is less a portable and more a luggable. Ben built this to order for his second home on the web, Engadget, which intends to sell it in a charity auction. (Read the full post about ‘Ben Heck’s PS3 Laptop’…)

Nikon P80 Camera with 18x Optical Zoom
When it comes to digital cameras, it’s fair to say that everybody likes the idea of a powerful zoom! That’s why Nikon added a whopping 18x optical zoom (27-486mm equivalent) that could prove very useful in many situations (wildlife, crowds…). Of course, with such a zoom comes some form of image stabilization to compensate for your body’s motion. Also, we like the fact that you can shoot 30 consecutive images at 13 frames per second. The Nikon P80 is a 10.1 Megapixel camera. (Read the full post about ‘Nikon P80 Camera with 18x Optical Zoom’…)

Ultra-smart USB cable

Check out this USB cable that is extremely functional - more than what I’ve seen in the past anyways. It not only opens up in half to reveal itself as a microSD memory card reader, it also doubles up as a charging cable and functions as a data connection cable as well, as long as your device relies on a 5-pin mini USB connection. Available in gray, black, green, orange and blue colors, the ultra-smart USB cable retails for $14 a pop. Since it also works great as a cell phone charm, it makes perfect sense to tote this around with you wherever you go. (Read the full post about ‘Ultra-smart USB cable’…)
