Up here are some shots of the 840, 850SW and 1030SW. 8-megapixels on the 840 and 850SW with 5x and 3x zoom, respectively. And if you vacation includes some light snorkeling (or you like taking pics in the rain), note that the 850SW is shockproof 1.5-meters and to waterproof to 3-meters. Need more megapixels? I think we all know that everything that we do now, from communication to commerce, will all be done from our personal cell phone. In other words, that cell phone that we do everything on will do even more as it becomes our digital wallet. In fact, this technology is already in place in Japan. In some places, all you have to do is touch a certain electronic sensor with a cell, and your payment is processed. I’ve heard that these devices have been in place since 2000. San Francisco is trying to make strides in this technology with an experimental ticket-taker on the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). Passengers of the Bay City’s famed rail train can now walk through and scan their cell phone instead of buying a separate ticket. Good news: You can still use your iPod to tune out the old people in your life. A new report in BioMedical Engineering OnLine concludes media players do not interfere with cardiac pacemakers, despite previous reports  — apparently based on a single incident of dizziness –to that end. An FDA researcher measured magnetic fields produced by four different models of iPod and found that all were hundreds of times weaker than what would be necessary to flummox a pacemaker. Gadgets In an expression of remembrance for a historical moment in hair-trigger overreactions, artists all over the Boston area have taken to the streets armed with provocative LED signage. Paying homage to the “bomb” scare of January 31st, 2007 (which was actually just viral promotion for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie using LED art), creative pranksters have descended upon the city with electronic recreations of President Bush, Osama Bin Laden, and a number of other inflammatory images sure to rile the local authorities but-good. One of our aims for 2008 was to finally break into the top 1000 blogs according to Technorati (which is based on how many other blogs link to you), we’ve been petering on the edge for a while and finally broke in this afternoon at position #998. I would like to thank every blog and blogger that has ever given us link credit to our stories, we will always strive to do the same. Now how about this concept of a cell phone that comes with a detachable display? That’s what Sony Ericsson has thought up in their clamshell idea, described in a patent application as “Detachable Housings for a Wireless Communication Device “. You get a couple of detachable connected housings, where one of them holds the user interface devices for data input and control while the other carries a display with several user input buttons and the relevant phone circuitry, application processor, memory, and battery. When detached, they can “talk” with one another thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, and the housings were specially designed to be joined in different orientations. Dell is shipping its XPS M1330 laptop with a DVD-playing version of Ubuntu 7.10 pre-installed in the States now, exactly as promised. We all know Valentine’s day is coming up. And men all over the world are scurrying around trying to find the right gift for their Valentine that won’t disappoint them. (We all know men have given up on trying to find the perfect gift, because that will never happen). It’s hard enough trying to find a gift for the average woman, but what do these poor guys do when faced with a woman who is a geek/nerd? Most guys fall back onto the default of chocolate and flowers, but this year, there’s a great alternative for your geeky Valentine. A majority of the complaints are coming from the Midwest / Chicago areas, where things seem to be down entirely, but we’ve also heard from folks as far away as Florida. In case you like travelling and have a laptop you will probably agree that sitting with the laptop on your knees can not be regarded as a comfortable pastime. But sometimes it’s really impossible to find a convenient place for using your laptop. Maybe there is something that should be invented to make this process easier? Michiel van der Kley who has been producing designs since 1987 has just the same opinion. That’s why he decided to design Globus concept that shows his creativity and imagination. Globus represents a multi-functional mobile office that looks like a sphere. When the gadget is closed its strange design can attract the most curious of spectators, but in case it’s opened people will understand its function at once.
