Cheeseburger in a Can is Both the Best and Worst Thing I’ve Ever Seen [Food]
This is a cheeseburger. In a can. It’s a cheeseburger in a can. I honestly can’t figure out how I feel about this: is it the greatest achievement of mankind thus far, or is it an abomination of foodstuffs that deserves to be hucked back into the gaping maw of whatever food processing plant it was spewed from? I just don’t know what to think anymore. Would you eat a cheeseburger in a can? Keep in mind that it’ll look nowhere near as delicious as the example above when you pull it out of the can. KDDI touts speedy upgrade to IR transfer technology
Posted Jan 29th 2008 11:39AM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Cellphones, Wireless We’re going to hazard a guess that it’s been a while since most of you used good ‘ol IrDA to transfer any data to your cellphone, but it looks like the folks at KDDI have got themselves on an old school kick, and they’re now looking to bring the technology back to some of its former glory. To that end, the company recently revealed its progress on a new form of the technology that upgrades transfer speeds to a full 1Gbps, or about 250 times faster than the previous limit. That’s apparently possible by replacing the standard LED with a new speedy new semiconductor laser, which gets paired with some nonvolatile memory to ensure that burst of data doesn’t get lost along the way. Giant Space Donut To Serve As German Tech HQ
Hamburg’s proposed 250,000 square-foot Science Center is a beautiful ring of pixilated modules, a huge censored donut from outer space. When the real thing is built—the press release offers no timeframe—it’ll house a theater, offices, labs and shops. For now, however, there are only mockups. Rendered beneath overcast skies, the scene gives the  a stark, mystical quality, like something lurking in the background of a mood shot in a near-future sci-fi flick. Ballard Street Knows Computers All Too Well

Ballard Street Knows Computers All Too Well
Once again, Jerry Van Amerongen, the author of Ballard Street, hits technology on the head. Larry has come to learn his computer is capable of great cruelty. I see the tears running down his eyes and I remember every time I’ve accidentally saved an altered photo over the top of the original. Or maybe I remember all the times a power flicker demolished hours of writing. How about those times when I’ve written something online and a glitch with the site eats my entry. Just thinking about it makes me click on the save button. (Read the full post about ‘Ballard Street Knows Computers All Too Well’…)
